Issue Summary and Recommendations

The Leica S910 DISTO uses a Wi-Fi hotspot to connect with a PC or tablet running the MicroSurvey Evidence Recorder or FieldGenius software. Some Windows Firewall or Virus Protection software rules or monitoring can interfere with the Wi-Fi connection causing the software to be hard to connect or causing the software to disconnect frequently.

If you are experiencing problems connection to the S910 Disto or maintain a Wi-Fi connection you should check the following setting in Windows and with your Virus protection software.

    1. In the system tray click the Wi-Fi connection icon and to view the Wi-Fi connection list. Select the DISTO XXXXXX hotspot and then the connect button.  When Connected you will see the status: No internet, Open. Select the Properties link. This will open the configuration page.
    2. Set the Network Profile to Private.
  2. Check your virus protection software and if it is monitoring the Wi-Fi connection.  If so set the options to allow  to allowing incoming and outgoing connections to Evidence Recorder or FieldGenius.
    1. An example of the settings needed to be configured for the Avast virus protection software are described in the article https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/25/.
    2. If you are still experiancing issues try tuning off the virus protection software before using Evidence Recorder or FieldGenius.
  3. An example of the software setting are shown below.  In windows 10 the If you are still having issue connecting set the rule for UDP and TCP connections as shown below.
