MicroSurvey CAD 2015 Known Issues

The following is a list of critical bugs or important limitations that users should be aware of which affect MicroSurvey CAD 2015. It is not intended as an exhaustive list of all issues.

Important Note: If you ever experience a crash when using MicroSurvey CAD, when you are asked if you would like to send an error report, please always select Yes to send the report. MicroSurvey and IntelliCAD programmers can use these error reports to help investigate and fix crashing problems that occur within the program, even if it is a problem that is not easily reproducible.

Reported: April 12, 2013

Problem: Advanced 3D rendering commands including MSRENDER and PCLW may display a blank white or black window, without showing the rendered view.

Solution: If you are experiencing this behaviour, updating your video card's display drivers is required. The easiest way to update your drivers is through the Device Manager in your Control Panel, but in some cases the latest drivers are only available via download directly from your video card manufacturer's website.

Problem: Advanced 3D rendering commands including MSRENDER and PCLW may exhibit very poor performance when rendering text entities, and in extreme cases may cause the program to stop responding or crash.

Solution: This was addressed in MicroSurvey CAD 2013 SP1.1 with the addition of a new display option in both the RENDER and PCLW commands to show text entities. By default, all text is now hidden in these windows and you must explicitly enable the display of text if desired. Displaying large numbers of text entities in these windows will continue to result in poor performance.

Reported: December 15, 2014

Problem: The "Draw 2D" and "Entity Snaps" toolbars are missing some buttons.

Solution: An updated icad.cui file is available with complete instructions here.

Status: This fix will be included in the next update.

Reported: February 20, 2015

Problem: In certain drawings, running the Erase command may cause the program to crash.

Workaround: you can "fix" any affected drawing that is susceptible to this crash as follows:

1. Open the affected .dwg, .dxf, or .dwt file.
2. Create a selection window by dragging your mouse anywhere in the drawing. It doesn’t matter whether you actually select any entities or not.
3. Save the drawing.
4. You can now run the Erase command without crashing.

Solution: This bug has been fixed for the next update.
