MicroSurvey CAD 2016 Known Issues

The following is a list of critical bugs or important limitations that users should be aware of which affect MicroSurvey CAD 2016. It is not intended as an exhaustive list of all issues.

Important Note: If you ever experience a crash when using MicroSurvey CAD 2016, when you are asked if you would like to send an error report, please always select Yes to send the report. MicroSurvey and IntelliCAD programmers can use these error reports to help investigate and fix crashing problems that occur within the program, even if it is a problem that is not easily reproducible.

Reported: September 1, 2015

Problem: The program may crash frequently and randomly with certain video cards, especially NVidia Quadro products.

NOTE: Please be sure that all display drivers are up to date and Windows has been allowed to perform all updates if you see this issue.

Workaround: Please see this article.

Solution: MicroSurvey and IntelliCAD are working together to address this problem for a future update.  Many users have confirmed that MicroSurvey CAD 2016 SP1 fixes the problem, while some users still need to follow the described workaround.

Status: Open (15.0), Improved (16.1)

Reported: September 1, 2015

Problem: Loading a point cloud database from Cyclone 9.1.0 or earlier may cause the program to stop responding.

Solution: MicroSurvey CAD 2016 is designed for compatibility with Cyclone 9.1.1. This behaviour has been observed in some cases when running Cyclone 9.1.0, and updating to Cyclone 9.1.1 resolves this and other problems. A message appears warning users running Cyclone 9.1.0 of potential issues.  MicroSurvey CAD 2016 SP1 has been tested successfully with both Cyclone 9.1.1 and 9.1.3.

Status: Closed (16.0)

Reported: September 1, 2015

Problem: Dynamic Orbit via Ctrl+mouse may cause the display to disappear from view. Note: you can use Undo, Zoom Previous, or Zoom Extents to get back to your previous view.

Workaround: Instead of a dynamic orbit (Ctrl+mouse), use the 3D Orbit command from your ribbon and select the Set option to snap to a nearby point which will be used as the center of rotation. Note, the Set point is not "sticky" and you will need to re-select a Set point every time you run the 3D Orbit command.

Solution: This will be fixed in a future update.

Status: Open (16.0), Closed (16.1)

Reported: September 1, 2015

Problem: When using a perspective view (for example, when a view is set via the TruSpace command), various anomolies may be observed with object selection, object snapping, grip editing, grid lines, and more.

Workaround: We recommend that perspective view be used only for viewing your drawing, and that any drafting be done in the default non-perspective (orthometric) view. A toggle to switch Perspective mode on/off is available on the ribbon.

Solution: This will be fixed in a future update.

Status: Open (16.0, 16.1), Closed (17.0)

Reported: September 1, 2015

Problem: Animations cannot be created with point cloud data, the loaded point cloud does not display in the animation window.

Workaround: Until this is fixed, affected users are advised to use MicroSurvey CAD 2015 Studio to create animations within a point cloud.

Solution: The animation system is being revamped to work within the main CAD display instead of the external animation window.  This will be included in an upcoming major update.

Status: Open (16.0, 16.1), Closed (17.0)

Reported: September 1, 2015

Problem: When producing an .AVI of an animation, in some cases the program may terminate unexpectedly.

Workaround: Until this is fixed, affected users are advised to use MicroSurvey CAD 2015 Studio to produce an .AVI file from their animations.

Solution: This will be fixed in a future update.

Status: Open (16.0, 16.1), Closed (17.0)

Reported: January 2016

Problem: A small number of users are reporting that when they save a drawing in MicroSurvey CAD 2016, a dialog with the following message appears:

Can not connect to module:
EpcAIRXApp_4.00_11.irx

Workaround: Until this is fixed, affected users are advised to install Cylcone 9.1.1 even if they do not use the Point Cloud capabilities in MicroSurvey CAD 2016.

Solution: This has been fixed in MicroSurvey CAD 2016 SP1.

Status: Open (16.0), Closed (16.1)
