Extra Safe Mode for Geomax Zenith35 Pro

Extra Safe Mode for Geomax Zenith35 Pro

Some users reported that FieldGenuis displays a 'Fixed' solution, but upon performing checks, noticed that a small number of measurements are off by as much as 10-20 centimetres. Users also reported noticing higher than normal PDOP values when this was happening.

Why does it happen?

Novatel 555channels boards offer an alternative 'easy fix' solution for users to measure in bad conditions, such as under trees, buildings etc. to improve surveyors' workflow.

How do I get the TRUE fix?

From the Fieldgenius Mapview screen, press on Instrument Settings (the wrench icon), then press RTK Mode.

Change RTK mode from NORMAL to EXTRA SAFE.

Geomax recommends that when using the Normal Mode feature, you should configure the Zenith35PRO BASE to transmit RTCM 3.2 (or called RTCM 3 MSM) corrections instead of RTCM 3 corrections. RTCM 3.2 corrections also include RTK data for Beidou and Galileo and should be used to take the advantage of all 4 constellations.

Normal Mode will be an 'easy fix' in bad condition, but there is a risk of an occasional inaccurate result.

Extra Safe Mode offers normal but slower fixes.

The tolerance modes can be configured to alert the uses when the PDOP values are high. Please see the following link for tolerance configuration:
