Converting .flx files to .dwg Format

PLEASE NOTE: MicroSurvey can no longer issue registration codes for MicroSurvey CAD 2004 and older.

MicroSurvey Customers may need to convert drawings from the old .flx format that was used by MicroSurvey CAD 2004 and older and MapScenes Pro to the .dwg format that is compatible with MicroSurvey CAD 2005 and newer, MapScenes 2006 and newer, and AutoCAD.  They have two options:

Option 1:

a: If there is still a copy of MapScenes Pro or older MSCAD available and you just need to convert one file you can open any .flx drawing and choose:

File | Save as... (DWG R12 - R2002,DXF,FLX)

enter a File name

Select: AutoCAD 2000/2002 File (*.dwg) from the "Save as Type" pulldown

Pick Save

b: If there is still a copy of MapScenes Pro or older MSCAD available and you wish to convert all your old files you can open any .flx drawing and follow these directions:

Pick here for MapScenes Pro Instructions

Pick here for MicroSurvey CAD Instructions

Option 2:

If you no longer have a copy of the older programs available you will need to download Ares from Graebert.com.  Please find a link below:

Ares Website Page

A test was conducted in June 2018 and we learned that Ares Commander no longer includes the batch conversion utility.  The only way to convert an FLX file to DWG is to open and then "Save as..." to AutoCAD Release 2010 or newer.

Please note that these programs do not read the Points Database created by MicroSurvey CAD or MapScenes.
