SurveyTools for BricsCAD V25 Known Issues

The following is a list of critical bugs or important limitations that users should be aware of which affect SurveyTools for BricsCAD v25. It is not intended as an exhaustive list of all issues.

Important Note: If you ever experience a crash when using SurveyTools for BricsCAD, a .dmp file will be generated in the same location of the drawing that was open at the time. MicroSurvey and BricsCAD programmers can use these files to help investigate and fix crashing problems that occur within the program, even if it is a problem that is not easily reproducible.

Please contact technical support if you experience any problems.

Problem: When points have been filtered in the Active Coordinate Editor, you should not use the Select or Edit functions within the Active Coordinate Editor, but rather rely on CAD picks within the drawing window itself. There is a bug where hidden points within the range will still be selected in the Active Coordinate Editor, and points outside of the selection may be affected when modified through the Edit menu.

Workaround: This can be avoided by using the Active Coordinate Editor filtering as an inspection tool, to view and navigate to points within groups, not to modify the points directly in the Active Coordinate Editor.

To: Rotate, Shift, Translate points: Use the RTS Command, and select points through a CAD pick.

To: Set the point layers, use the Layer_Move command, found on MsPoints > Edit pulldown > Change Point Object Layer

Status: Will be fixed in a future update.

Problem: Independent Point Numbers, Independent Point Descriptions, and Independent Point Elevations are still shown for points hidden through the Survey Group Manager.

Workaround: There is no workaround at this time, the points still exist in the database, they are only hidden in the CAD window. The IPN/IPD/IPE's are shown from the database.

Status: Will be fixed in a future update.

Problem: There is a bug where we lose communication with the MicroSurvey Database when creating a drawing through File + New or the Quick New (+) button.

Workaround: This can be resolved by closing, then reopening the newly created drawing either through the Project Manager or the Start Page. Always use the Project Manager to create new drawings.

Status: Will be fixed in a future update.

Problem: The display of Point Nodes and Images may appear distorted or not honouring their draw order.

Workaround: Run the REGEN command.

Status: Will be fixed in a future update of BricsCAD.

Problem: Global Mapper may cause the program to crash on some computers after it regens, either manually or with the auto-regen.

Workaround: None, still being investigated.

Status: Will be fixed in a future update.

Problem: Global Mapper may stop regenerating, and triggering an error message with "Error downloading WMS data"

Workaround: Follow these steps:

  • Open Global Mapper
  • Remove the layer for your imagery
  • Select "Download Online Data" and then "Delete Cached Files..."
  • Close Global Mapper and turn off Global Mapper Auto-Regen
  • Save your drawing
  • Restart SurveyTools for BricsCAD
  • Open Global Mapper and reload your imagery

Status: Will be fixed in a future update.
