SurveyTools for BricsCAD V26
SurveyTools for BricsCAD is an all-in-one solution for surveying workflows by MicroSurvey®. The combined solution includes leading technology from MicroSurvey, Bricsys and the trusted industry partner, Leica Geosystems. As Hexagon companies, we work together to enhance day-to-day workflows between our solutions. This release of SurveyTools for BricsCAD introduces a very exciting feature—Survey Groups. Survey Groups allow you to automatically filter field data on import into groups by point description using AutoMAP, enabling additional data management capabilities and reducing the need for elaborate layer naming conventions.
What’s New in Version 26
What’s New
- Support for the latest BricsCAD V26 for the latest features and stability from Bricsys.
- For floating cloud license customers: we are now populating the computer ID field in our online license management system. This allows you to see which computer has checked out a license for offline use and which computers are accessing it.
- A floating license can now be checked out for offline use when you have a subscription license.
What’s Improved
- We resolved many infrequent issues with our cloud-based licensing system to ensure licensing will not get in the way of your work, and your license will be available when you need it.
- The CopyClip/PasteClip and Copy commands are much faster than in the previous release.
- When checking a floating network license out for offline use, we now present a confirmation dialog to confirm that the user understands they are taking that license from their available pool of license seats and it will not be available for others to use until it is checked back in, or the time period has elapsed.
Bug Fixes
- With the increase in label styles in the V25 release, the configuration file (*.cfg) for exchanging presets between installations and versions of MicroSurvey SurveyTools was not working. We have replaced the *.cfg file with a *.msz, which contains all the necessary label style information, and can now read the *.cfg from previous releases.
- When opening some drawings containing AECC entities, there would be an error message presented a few times: “Error ASLK8K8K. Unable to locate *.msj directory!” This has been resolved, and we correctly handle the BricsCAD startup sequence.
- Points created with a description that should be added to an existing survey group through AutoMAP would have their nodes added, but sometimes not their labels. This happened consistently with EditP, where the group was already made in the drawing.
- The 3 Point Inverse routine (MS_SHOW_ANGLE) was displaying the angle values from your selection, but not respecting the precision set in your drawing; it always used a precision of 4.
Known Issues
Several known issues are being addressed. Here is the list of the most common ones:
When MicroSurvey commands are added to tool palettes, the command icons do not display but the text labels do.
Sometimes the Independent Point Numbers, Descriptions, and Elevations will remain visible until the user pans or zooms when a layer containing points has been frozen or turned off.
Important Notes
Compatibility and Upgrades
MicroSurvey SurveyTools for BricsCAD will read and write to *.DWG drawing files and our *.MSZ database interchangeably with our other CAD products: MicroSurvey CAD, embeddedCAD, and inCAD. There are no compatibility issues to use saved MicroSurvey databases between these products. We have supported the *.MSZ format since 2008, and offer conversion utilities for older formats which are described here.
Civil 3D objects can be converted and imported into BricsCAD using the CIVIL3DIMPORT command.
Customer Care Package (CCP)
In 2025, the Annual Maintenance Subscription (AMS) program was renamed to the Customer Care Package (CCP).
If your CCP has expired, you may not be able to update your key to the current version of MicroSurvey SurveyTools for BricsCAD.
For a detailed explanation of the CCP program and how we use product version numbers to license our software, please review the following article.
Each USB key and floating license has a different CCP plan, so multiple USB keys or floating licenses may not have the same expiry date.
You can confirm your CCP expiry date by reviewing the About screen found in the Help menu.
MicroSurvey Subscription License
Existing SurveyTools for BricsCAD users with a current subscription license must enter their License ID and Password to run this version.
Each license has a different subscription plan, so multiple licenses may not have the same expiry date.
You can confirm your subscription expiry date by reviewing the About screen found on the Help ribbon.
If your subscription has expired, you can phone us at 1-800-668-3312 or 1-250-707-0000 to renew it. Without a current subscription plan, you will not be able to work with the new version.
