Resolving Printer Issues with STAR*NET

Occasionally users report an error message when attempting to perform a print of a listing or a plot.  This is rare, but seems to be encountered by a small number of specific workstations.

This small change usually makes a difference:

  1. Close STAR*NET
  2. touch the Windows key and type "printers"
  3. select Windows settings for "Printers and Scanners"
  4. In the list of Print devices that appears, one will have a label "default."  Note which one this is.
  5. Click on the name of another printer in the list
  6. Pick on "Set as Default"
  7. Close Windows settings
  8. Run STAR*NET and attempt the print again.  You may need to re-select the printer you intend to use, this is expected.  Selecting the printer that was set as the default should not cause an issue.
  9. If it is inconvenient to leave the printer set in step 6 as default, try following steps 1 to 6 again but reset the original printer noted in step 4 as the default.  We often find that simply changing the default once and then reverting solves the issue long term
