Recovering Database Information From an old FLX Project

While we are no longer able to access CAD information that was stored in an FLX file, the *.msd database file which was used with MSCAD 2004 does contain information about "Smart" points and Linework that can be recovered into an empty drawing.

Follow these steps if you which to perform this type of recovery:

1. Take note of the exact name of your FLX and msd files
2. Create a folder named "recovery"
3. Use your current MicroSurvey CAD product to create a new dwg file in the "Recovery" directory.  Give this project the same name as the old FLX file.  When creating this new drawing, we recommend:
   1. Use your company standard template
   2. Use your company standard MicroSurvey Settings
   3. Use your company standard AutoMap
4. Close the new drawing
5. Open the recovery folder and delete the *.msz file
6. Copy the *.msd file noted in step 1 into the "Recovery" folder
7. Open the Project manager and select "Audit Database and Drawing on Load"
8. Browse for Drawing, and navigate to the Recovery folder
9. A message in the command line will notify you that there are issues with the database and Drawing, selct the option to recover missing data

Once this is complete the COGO calculated points and linework will be drawn.  Take care that MicroSurvey Settings and AutoMap were applied correctly as your standards will likely have changed over the years.
