MicroSurvey CAD 2008/2009 & MapScenes 2008 - Current Known Issues:

Problem: Using MicroSurvey CAD running under a 64-bit edition of Windows Vista has the following reported problems:
- USB License Manager does not work. You must install a copy of the USB License Manager onto a 32-bit version of Windows in order to activate or update your USB license key.
- Training movies do not play. This is because our .SWF movies are played using Adobe Flash Player, but a 64-bit Flash Player does not exist. The 32-bit Flash Player can be installed into 64-bit editions of Internet Explorer or Firefox but it does not work correctly. The 32-bit Flash Player can only be used with 32-bit editions of Internet Explorer or Firefox, which can be installed into 32-bit or 64-bit editions of Windows. Adobe has announced plans on creating a 64-bit edition of Flash Player (for use with 64-bit editions of Internet Explorer or Firefox) in a future major release.
- Boundary Hatches - hatch pattern previews are not displayed in the bhatch command window, but they do appear once drawn into the drawing.
- Windows - Cannot press alt-tab to switch between windows
- Tooltips on toolbars not always working
- and possibly other issues...

Solution: Officially, MicroSurvey/MapScenes is not supported under 64-bit editions of Windows (XP or Vista). MicroSurvey Software has NOT tested the functionality of the program in any way under a 64-bit operating system, but reports from users indicate that the program does work correctly aside from the items noted above. We highly recommend using a 32-bit operating system.

Problem: After printing or generating a print preview of a drawing, all or some entities can seem to disappear. What is happening, is they are still there but they are shown in the color as specified by the print style table - the most common result is you get black entities against a black background.
Solution: Issue a REGEN to bring back the "missing" entities. This will be fixed in a future update.

Problem: When a drawing is opened that has paper space layouts, when you switch to Layout1, the view port is automatically activated.
Solution: Type PSPACE to deactivate the viewport. You can also modifiy the properties of your viewport, and turn on the "Lock viewport" option to prevent the view from being accidently changed when this occurs. This will be fixed in a future update.

Problem: If you paste text from your clipboard into the MTEXT dialog, nothing appears in the drawing. But, if you switch your background to white you will then see the text.
Solution: After pressing Ctrl-V to paste the text into the MTEXT dialog, press Ctrl-A to highlight All text, then set the color to white (even though it already says it is white). This will be fixed in a future update.

Problem: When trying to move a line, using the shift-right click function on the mouse to turn entity snaps off will force the user to select the Displacement Point twice.
Solution: No Solution yet. This will be fixed in a future update.

Problem: Creating a "Print Preview" may substantially increases the amount of time required to save a drawing if the "Save Changes to Layout" option has been turned on. This seems to be linked to the current printer driver, and seems to be much worse if more than one printer has been assigned in the various views of the drawing.
Solution: The problem usually disappears when the drawing is opened and saved in another computer. Generating a print preview using the free Primo PDF utility also sometimes clears the problem. This will be fixed in a future update.

Problem: Curves appear "Segmented" when an AutoCAD drawing is first opened in MicroSurvey CAD or MapScenes. This is controlled by the VIEWRES variable, which is incorrectly being set to 16.
Solution: Clear this up by typing VIEWRES in the command line, set Fast Zooms to Yes and set the View Resolution up to 20000. You may then also need to issue a REGEN command. This will be fixed in a future update.

Problem: Listing a closed polyline (not a lwpolyline) will cause a crash.
Solution: For now, use the Entprop command instead of List for querying closed polylines. Also, make sure your PLINETYPE variable is set to 1 to draw lwpolylines instead of polylines, which will help avoid the problem with new polylines that are drawn then listed. This will be fixed in a future update.
MicroSurvey CAD 2008 & MapScenes 2008 - Resolved Issues:

Problem: When SyncWizarding more than one FieldGenius Project which includes feature list attributes into MicroSurvey CAD 2008, Data from earlier Projects will be overwritten or removed by later ones. This issue does not affect MapScenes 2008.
Solution: For now you can only SyncWizard a single FieldGenius Project containing feature list attributes into an MSCAD 2008 drawing. You can access the feature list attribute databases directly by opening the .dbf files created in the FieldGenius Project folder.

Problem: When a demo version of MSCAD 2008 BASIC is installed, it is unable to create the default profile which cause MSCAD to not start up properly. (This does not affect the Premium or Standard versions.) This issue does not affect MapScenes 2008.
Solution: Install MSCAD 2008 SP1.2 or newer.

Problem: In some networks, working on drawings saved in a network location can introduce substantial lags after drawing commands that affect or read the Survey Database
Solution: MSCAD users can install MSCAD 2008 SP1.2 or newer. MapScenes users can work on drawings on their local hard drive if needed, and this will be fixed in the next MapScenes update.

Problem: After editing a traverse file. If you go to open a traverse using the File | Open command in the Active Traverse Editor, you will see traverse files appended with "_travtmp". These files are normally filtered out so they do not appear in the list of files to select.
Solution: Install MSCAD 2008 SP1 or newer, or MapScenes 2008 SP1 or newer.

Problem: Modifications to user paths made by opening CadTools | Options | Paths/Files are not being retained once the program restarts.
Solution: For most paths, install MSCAD 2008 SP1 or newer, or MapScenes 2008 SP1 or newer. Other paths are not customizable.

Problem: The help file documentation regarding Geodetic Transformations for Canadian users is out of date. Canadian users currently see an error message if they attempt to perform transformations in certain datums without updating their datum files. This issue does not apply to MapScenes 2008.
Solution: Please see this article for updated documentation. For an updated MSCAD help file please install MSCAD 2008 SP1 or newer.

Problem: Raster images can cause problems. When the image is attached to a drawing it can either slow the program down by using more memory during each save or can't be printed.
Solution: Install MSCAD 2008 SP1.1 or newer, or MapScenes 2008 SP1 or newer.

Problem: When opening some MicroSurvey CAD 2005 or MapScenes 2006 drawings for the first time with MicroSurvey CAD 2008 or MapScenes 2008 some users see a Database Error. The Database is not successfully translated to the 2008 format due to certain files missing from the original database.
Solution: Install MSCAD 2008 SP1 or newer, or MapScenes 2008 SP1 or newer.

Status: Rejected (8.0.0) - Problem is due to interference from third party software
Problem: Some users report slow response and unusual lag times when executing commands within a drawing. This has been found to be due to anti-virus scanners, backup agents, or disk and network monitors actively accessing the database files whenever MSCAD or MapScenes accesses them.
Solution: Your local Network Administrator or IT Department can confirm whether anything is accessing your files using a utility called Process Monitor (a free download from www.sysinternals.com). Any files that are being accessed by an anti-virus scanner, a live backup agent, network monitoring agent, etc will show up in the Process Monitor log. You can then configure that anti-virus or other application to ignore the appropriate files or your entire Jobs or Forensic Scenes folder.

Problem: When using MsPoints | Compute Points | Compute Stakes, users are not permitted to enter decimal values for offset distances. This issue does not affect MapScenes 2008.

Problem: When reading older raw files (FieldGenius 2007 or older, Evidence Recorder 4 or older, and some non-MicroSurvey raw files) the Active Traverse Editor does not display the correct Instrument Heights, so re-coordinating your traverse file can produce incorrect Elevations. Users may see an HI of 0 at the first set up and the first HI at the second set up, etc. This does not affect projects from FieldGenius 2008.
Solution: Install MSCAD 2008 SP1.1 or newer, or MapScenes 2008 SP1 or newer.
