Once a USB License Key has been activated for v10.0.0 (MicroSurvey CAD 2010) or newer, that key will no longer work with MicroSurvey CAD 2008. This is because of a bug that existed in the 2008 version that has since been fixed - the updated key will only work with MicroSurvey CAD 2009 or 2010.
If you have a key activated for 2010, then there is no reason to need 2008 any more. MicroSurvey CAD 2010 includes literally thousands of bug fixes and tons of new features, none of which are available in the older 2008 version. You should install and use 2010, and you can uninstall 2008.
There is no change to any of the file formats between MicroSurvey CAD 2008 and 2010. MicroSurvey CAD 2010 will open all project files from 2005 or newer (from 2004 or older, you must first convert your .FLX drawings to .DWG drawings using the Batch Converter).
The program interface in general is also very much the same, so the learning curve to go from 2008 to 2010 will be negligable.
