When launching MSCAD you may experience an "Error opening Description Translation File error" followed by the default description file (desctrans.csv) is shipped with the program and it needs to be installed in the "All Users" application directory.
This is a result of a partial or "dirty" install of MSCAD and the simplest method of correcting it is to complete a repair on your installation. For Win XP users go to Start/Control Panel/Add Remove Programs, highlight the MicroSurvey MSCAD application; select the Change and Next buttons, followed by the Repair radio button and allow it to repair the installation of MSCAD.

For Vista/Win 7 users go to Start/Control Panel/Programs/ Programs and Features/Uninstall a Program, highlight MSCAD and select the Repair button at the top of this listing. You must authorize the User Control prompt window and allow it to repair the installation of MSCAD.
