Q) What CAD engine does MicroSurvey embeddedCAD 2013 use?
A) MicroSurvey embeddedCAD is powered with Autodesk TechnologyTM. It includes AutoCAD® OEM 2013 Service Pack 1.1 to provide maximum compatibility between MicroSurvey embeddedCAD and AutoCAD software, including the latest DWGTM file support.
Q) Do I need to own an AutoCAD license?
A) Not at all! MicroSurvey embeddedCAD is an all-in-one package which includes both the underlying CAD engine plus the survey, design, and modeling commands. However, if you do own an AutoCAD license you may be interested in our MicroSurvey inCAD product, which is an add-on for your AutoCAD software.
Q) What operating systems are supported?
A) MicroSurvey embeddedCAD 2012 supports Windows XP SP3(32-bit) or SP2(64-bit) and Windows 7 (32-bit/64-bit). Further system requirement details are available here.
Please note that there are seperate installation packages for the 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
Q) Are MicroSurvey embeddedCAD and MicroSurvey CAD project files compatible with each other?
A) MicroSurvey embeddedCAD 2013 and MicroSurvey CAD 2013 projects are cross-compatible, with the following caveat:
MicroSurvey embeddedCAD 2013 can directly open any project created by MicroSurvey CAD 2005 or newer.
MicroSurvey embeddedCAD 2013 can directly open any .dxf file (but not a .flx file) created by MicroSurvey CAD 2004 or earlier.
MicroSurvey embeddedCAD 2012 projects can be indirectly opened by MicroSurvey CAD 2008-2013 or earlier by saving the .dwg file in an appropriate version supported by MicroSurvey CAD.
MicroSurvey embeddedCAD 2013 projects can be indirectly opened by MicroSurvey CAD 2005 or older by saving a .dwg or .dxf file in an appropriate version supported by MicroSurvey CAD, and by exporting/importing the coordinate database as an ASCII file and the traverses as RAW files.

A) MicroSurvey embeddedCAD 2013 and MicroSurvey inCAD 2013 projects are 100% cross-compatible.
MicroSurvey embeddedCAD 2013 can directly open any project created by MicroSurvey inCAD 2006 or newer.
MicroSurvey embeddedCAD 2013 projects can be directly opened by MicroSurvey inCAD 2013.
MicroSurvey embeddedCAD 2013 projects can be indirectly opened by MicroSurvey inCAD 2010-2012 by saving the .dwg file in an appropriate version supported by your AutoCAD (R2010 .dwg).
MicroSurvey embeddedCAD 2013 projects can be indirectly opened by MicroSurvey inCAD 2006 or earlier by saving a .dwg or .dxf file in an appropriate version supported by your AutoCAD, and by exporting/importing the coordinate database as an ASCII file and the traverses as RAW files.
