Download Data from Topcon 210/310

Download Topcon Data from Topcon 210/310 (Coordinate and Measurement Files)

1) Turn on your instrument.

2) Start MicroSurvey (MS-CAD 2001 or MSX) and select the appropriate file name to open (new or existing).

3) Use the MicroSurvey Pull-down Menu and Select Data Collector Download (from DC) as shown below.

Or, alternatively, you can choose the Send/Receive Data from Data Collector button from the Assistant

The Dialogue Box on the right will appear if you are using the Assistant.

This step is by-passed if you use the MicroSurvey pull down menu.

4) MicroSurvey will then prompt you for the brand of data collector you wish to download from and lets you browse to select the directory the files will be saved to. The following dialogue boxes illustrate the Instrument Type, Directory and File name I used for this example.

If you want to change the download directory, select the Browse For Directory button and the following dialogue box will appear and allow you to change the directory. Simply browse to the appropriate directory and select OK. This will return you to the Download Dialogue Box pictured above.

5) Select OK (In the Downloading Dialogue Box) and the following dialogue box will appear: If the current parameters are correct then you can select Download Now.

If not, you can change the parameters by selecting Change Current Parameters Button and select the appropriate parameters for your instrument.

6) Once you have pressed the Download Now button, the box shown below describes what keys must be pressed on the Topcon in order to start sending the desired data files to MicroSurvey.

7) Select the Start Receiving Data Now button and the following box will appear.

You can see the data is received by the computer from the Topcon 210/310.

MicroSurvey automatically creates a copy of the download file and stores it in the D:\ Jobs2000\Downloads directory. The backup file is a copy of the original data file and should be used if the original become corrupted in any way. Select OK.

8) Depending on the type of file downloaded (Measurement or Coordinate Data ) you will be presented with the following:

Measurement Data

Select the Appropriate Toggles for your data import.

You will then see the following Dialogue Box:

In most cases, you would choose to create a new file. You would then enter a file name as shown below.

Now you can enter the information on the left so a permanent record of the Job Description and Field Crew are recorded.

You will be asked if you want to edit the data file. If you are aware of any errors or omissions in the raw data file then you should select Yes to view and edit the file. If not, select No. If you are duplicating the field edits to the raw data, this is where it is done.

You will now be asked about re-coordinating the traverse. It is only necessary to do this if you have made any corrections or additions to the raw data file or if you do not wish to download the coordinate file.

If you choose No, the download process is complete. Only the coordinates in the main body of the traverse will be displayed. All side shots will not be stored in the database. In order to do this, you must choose to recoordinate the traverse.

If you selected yes, the following dialogue box will appear.

You will now have the option of choosing from several methods of shot selection. To proceed, select OK.

You will then see the following dialogue box.

Read the instructions and press OK. You can then print the traverse information from the text editor screen or simply close it by pressing the "X" in the upper right hand corner.

Your data will now appear on screen. This concludes the download process for measurement data.

Coordinate Data

Select the Appropriate Toggles for your data import.

You will then see the following dialogue box.

Read the instructions and press OK. You can then print the coordinate information from the text editor screen or simply close it by pressing the "X" in the upper right hand corner.

Your coordinate data will now appear on screen. This concludes the download process for coordinate data.

If you are using the Assistant, you will return to the Assistant.
