FieldGenius Supported Data Collectors

FieldGenius  Data Collectors

MicroSurvey FieldGenius can be installed on a wide range of tablets and larger format smart phones with both Android and Windows operating systems, and are not limited to the lists below. These are simply some of the devices with confirmed testing status.

There are many manufacturers of Android and Windows tablets with many different hardware configurations. Given a large number of hardware devices and the rapidly changing hardware components and configurations, it is not possible for MicroSurvey to test the FieldGenius on all devices.  We have designed the software to support a wide range of common hardware configurations.

MicroSurvey has tested some of the industry's most common hardened field data collection devices and has listed them as tested and supported. We also get reports from customers on other devices and the performance of the software on these devices. Manufactures may replace components or upgrade the firmware on the android devices after we have tested a device or registered a report that could adversely affect the performance on a listed device.

The minimum tablet requirements to run FieldGenius are listed below.  These requirements may be updated at any time to reflect improvements in the software to make it compatible with more Android devices or new updates that demand an increase in minimum hardware requirements.

Android:

Android version 8.1 and newer, as well as being 64 bit, is required to run FieldGenius. It is recommended the device have 8GB or more of RAM. Devices with 6GB or 4GB tend to have performance issues.

It has been noticed that Samsung devices could have very inconsistent Bluetooth issues between different models and Android updates, so it is recommended not to use such devices with FieldGenius for Android.

Also, as of version 2.5, some of the Samsung tablets are no longer compatible with FGA because the hardware does not support a 64 bit component.

Windows:

Windows 10 or newer is required to run FieldGenius.

The tablet must have the Microsoft Store application installed in order to recognize the installer file. Some older tablets that do have Windows 10 don't support having that application, which therefore cannot install FieldGenius on them.

Status:

  • Tested - MicroSurvey has physically tested the listed device.
  • Reported - Customers, dealers and partners have tested FieldGenius on a device and provided a status on performance and any observed Issues.  MicroSurvey has not verified the reported performance with any independent testing.
  • Analytics - Devices that have been seen through our Analytics to be most used by customers. Although untested internally, the high usage of said devices indicates that most likely they run FieldGenius without issues.
  • Test Cloud - MicroSurvey has the ability to test the software in a simulated environment on different hardware tablets.  The test cloud devices show that the device installs the software and displays the screen UI properly. The FieldGenius navigates properly from all screens as expected.  MicroSurvey has not verified the reported performance with any independent testing.
