Configuring Modeling and Surfacing Settings

The options found under MsModeling > Configuration Settings have a powerful effect on how modeling and volumes routines perform:

Changes to these settings normally reset when the program is closed, but users can have full control over this part of the program.

Under MsModeling > Configuration File Options users will find options to work with .qcf files. These files record all of modeling settings:

By default the .qcf file is stored in:

MSCAD: C:\ProgramData\MicroSurvey\MSCAD\20XX\qs\qs.qcf

embeddedCAD: C:\ProgramData\MicroSurvey\embeddedCAD 20XX\qs

inCAD: C:\ProgramData\MicroSurvey\inCAD\20XX\qs

  • Read Configuration allows users to Import .qcf files. *Once set these settings will remain even after the program is restarted.
  • Save Configuration allows users to Export .qcf files
  • Reset to Default updates your current settings with the ones in the default location above
  • List Configuration sends a full list of settings to the command line for your review

Also, a selection of configuration profiles suited for different industries are stored in the file locations above.

These files can be opened with notepad and customized, overwritten, renamed and also sent to other workstations.

If you would like to save your configuration through CAD as the qs.qcf (default), then you will have to save it to another location on your computer first (desktop for example), then close your CAD program and then copy it into the qs folder, overwriting the existing one there.
