Survey Pro Resection Records need to be manually edited

The TDS convertor can read resection records from an raw file, but the user needs to do some manual editing in the dat file before STAR*NET can work with them.

The convertors usually look at the record of the vertical angle to determine whether an observation is Face Right or Face Left. 

If zenith angle =  Face =
0 to 180 degrees Right
180 to 360 degrees Left

Survey Pro resection records don't include a vertical angle as you can see in the example below:

There is enough information here for the resection to be solved in the field but the Star*TDS convertor will attempt to translate these lines into direction set records so it appears as below in the dat file.  Each resection observation includes a pair of Face Right directions and a pair of Face Left observations in this example.  They will effectively cancel each other out so that no solution can be calculated by STAR*NET.

The solution: Determine which directions are in the correct quadrant and add or subtract 180 degrees from the incorrect ones as shown below.  And it's always good practice to either copy and comment out the original entry or at least add a comment describing how you have modified the field data:
