The following are frequently asked questions and answers from new inCAD users...
Q) What versions of AutoCAD are supported?
A) MicroSurvey inCAD 2013 will run inside AutoCAD 2013, AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013, and AutoCAD Map 3D 2013. AutoCAD Architecture 2013, AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise 2013, and AutoCAD Civil 3D Land Desktop Companion 2013 should also work but are untested. AutoCAD LT cannot be used with inCAD.
Q) What operating systems are supported?
A) MicroSurvey inCAD 2013 has the same system requirements as the AutoCAD software it is running in. AutoCAD 2013 requires Windows XP SP3(32-bit) or SP2(64-bit), or Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit). Further AutoCAD system requirement details are available here.
Q) Are MicroSurvey inCAD 2013 and MicroSurvey inCAD 2012/2011/2010/2006 project files compatible with each other?
A) inCAD 2013 and inCAD 2012/2011/2010 projects are 100% forward-compatible. inCAD 2012/2011/2010/2006 projects can be opened directly with inCAD 2013, but inCAD 2013 projects cannot be opened directly with inCAD 2012/2011/2010/2006. Please see the MicroSurvey inCAD 2013 Upgrade Notes article here for additional details.
Q) Are MicroSurvey inCAD 2013 and MicroSurvey CAD 2013 project files compatible with each other?
A) MicroSurvey CAD 2013 projects use the 2010 DWG format by default, and can be opened directly with inCAD for AutoCAD 2013. AutoCAD 2013 uses the 2013 DWG format by default, so drawings must be saved as a previous (2010 or earlier) format in order to open them with MicroSurvey CAD 2013.
Q) Are MicroSurvey inCAD 2013 and MicroSurvey embeddedCAD 2013 project files compatible with each other?
A) Yes, inCAD 2013 and embeddedCAD 2013 projects are completely cross-compatible with each other. Both programs use the DWG 2013 drawing format by default.
