In the MsCogo menu there is a very handy function:
Lines by Inversing (Dot to Dot)
This routine allows to you conenct two points or a series of points with "Smart" linework. It is very flexible because it allows you to select points in a number of ways.
- This is superior to using the CAD line command because it creates "smart" lines that will follow your points as they are shifted and refined during the calculations process.
- You can control whether lines are labeled as they are drawn by checking "draw distances" or "draw bearings" in the Hot Toggles dialog.
- AutoMap settings will control line type and layer as the lines are drawn
When you start the routine you will see this prompt:
Range/Type Ptnum or pick dwg:
- You can type a point number to start drawing "smart" lines from point to point.
- You can pick point nodes off the screen to draw "smart" lines from point to point.
- You can pick a part of the drawing that does not have any database points and new database points will be automatically created in addition to the linework.
- You can type "R" in the command line and then type in a range of point numbers (ie typing 1..10 will connect points 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,and 10 all in one operation.)
When first learning to use this command you may run into this error message when you attempt to enter a Point Number range:
That Number is not in the database...
If you checked and found that the number IS in fact in the database check to see if you have typed "R" or "Range" in the command line before entering the point range.
