Licensing

MicroSurvey Layout will run in a fully functional evaluation mode and is limited to storing 30 points.  A License will have to be purchased if you decide to buy the product.   Once purchased, password are generated online and are tied to one device or computer. Please pick here to go to our Licensing Instructions page and learn how to license your software if you are not clear on how to do it.

Remember, if you wish to save these documents to your computer's hard drive, right-click on the link and select, "save link as" or "save target as".


Old Settings and Saved Instrument Profiles 

MicroSurvey Layout stores all instrument profiles and program settings in a text file: MSurvey.ini. Users upgrading from a previous version or newer only need to run the installer, all settings will be retained and the msurvey file will not be modified.


Installation

Step 1: Install Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center

In order to install Layout onto your hand-held data collector, you must have Microsoft ActiveSync (for Windows XP or earlier) or Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center (for Windows Vista) installed on your computer. Click here to download these free from Microsoft.


Step 2: Download Layout and save it to your desktop or tablet computer

Step 3: Run the installation on your desktop or tablet computer

Follow the prompts to run the installation.  Currently this installs supports all devices running the Windows Mobile 6 operating system such as the Nautiz X7, Leica CC50, and others, and the Windows 7 operating system (tablet PCs).  Also included are options for installing on the Leica Viva CS10 / CS15 and the TS15.


Step 4: Install MicroSurvey Data Exchange or MicroSurvey Transfer (Optional)

 

Use MicroSurvey Transfer to manage data transfer between your desktop computer and mobile device.  This is a free program.

MicroSurvey Point Prep is a desktop companion for MicroSurvey Layout.

Step 5: Download any required support files or utilities:

Geoids: GPS users may require a geoid file to correct elevations for geoid separation.  Pick Here for the World Geoids download page.

Grid Shift Files: GPS users may require a Grid Shift file for coordinate transformations to work correctly.  Pick Here to download grid shift files
