No License Key Required if Upgrading from Version 6.x or higher

If you are upgrading from an older version of FieldGenius (not 6.0.0 or higher) then a new license key is required. If you have FieldGenius 6.0.0 (or higher) already installed and licensed, then a new license key is not required.

Remember we have an entirely new software licensing system. Please click here to go to our Licensing Instructions page and learn how to license your new version if you are not clear on how to do it.

FieldGenius2012 stores all instrument profiles in a reformatted version of the file: MSurvey.ini. Users upgrading from Version 4.2.0 or older must manually record all settings for Total Station and GPS receivers so you can re-enter them in the new version. Users upgrading from version 4.3.0 or newer only need to run the installer, all settings will be retained.

Important Note: This service pack only addresses two issues (see below). If these issues do not apply to you then there is no compelling reason to install this service pack, and therefore dont bother. But if you do own a NavCom receiver or are using a device that uses the Windows Mobile 5 or PocketPC operating systems, then you should download and install this service pack.

1. 1. Our Windows Mobile 5/PocketPC build had a problem with the display driver that prevented points from being displayed on the map. This is fixed.

1. We fixed a latency issue specific to NavCom GPS drivers and the local internet connection.

Step 1: Install Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center

In order to install FieldGenius onto your hand-held data collector, you must have Microsoft ActiveSync (for Windows XP or earlier) or Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center (for Windows Vista) installed on your computer. Click here to download these free from Microsoft.

Step 2: Install FieldGenius.

FieldGenius2012 uses an installer where all devices are available in the same install package. Download the install package below to your computer and run the setup. The install will attempt to connect to your device through Activesync or Windows Mobile Device Center and install the software.

Step 3: Install MicroSurvey Transfer

The MicroSurvey Transfer program provides an easy means of transferring FieldGenius project files between your data collector and your desktop computer.

Step 4 (optional): Install FieldGenius Tablet Edition

The FieldGenius Tablet Edition was formerly known as the Desktop Emulator.

No Windows Mobile Device Required. This version can drive your Total Station or GPS equipment! Run FieldGenius on a Tablet PC and collect data in the field.

Note: this version can be licensed at the same price as the Windows Mobile 6 version. It is a fully functional Laptop or Tablet PC product that allows you to hook up your computer to a total station or GPS equipment and collect data or stake out points.

You can also use it for training on your desktop. Supports both Landscape (Allegro, Tracker, Ranger) and Portrait (Archer, Recon, Pocket PC) displays.
