The following is a list of critical bugs or important limitations that users should be aware of which affect MicroSurvey CAD 2014. It is not intended as an exhaustive list of all issues.

Important Note: If you ever experience a crash when using MicroSurvey CAD 2014, when you are asked if you would like to send an error report, please always select Yes to send the report. Reported: April 12, 2013

Problem: Advanced 3D rendering commands including RENDER and PCLW may display a blank white or black window, without showing the rendered view.

Solution: If you are experiencing this behaviour, updating your video card's display drivers is required. The easiest way to update your drivers is through the Device Manager in your Control Panel, but in some cases the latest drivers are only available via download directly from your video card manufacturer's website.

Problem: Advanced 3D rendering commands including RENDER, PCLW, etc. may exhibit very poor performance when rendering text entities, and in extreme cases may cause the program to stop responding or crash.

Solution: This was addressed in MicroSurvey CAD 2013 SP1.1 with the addition of a new display option in both the RENDER and PCLW commands to show text entities. By default, all text is now hidden in these windows and you must explicitly enable the display of text if desired. Displaying large numbers of text entities in these windows will continue to result in poor performance.

Problem: The new GLOBALMAPPER command (MsTools > Global Mapper) does not run, it produces a message "Unable to recognize command GLOBALMAPPER. Please try again."

Workaround: This new command is still a beta feature, and it is not automatically loaded into the program because it can cause some instability. If you would like to try this command, you must manually load another program file into MicroSurvey CAD 2014, as follows:

  1. Select Tools > Load Application (*.irx, *.sds, *.lsp)... from the menus, or type APPLOAD at the command line.
  2. Press the "Add File Name" button.
  3. Navigate into your "C:\Program Files\MicroSurvey\MSCAD2014\" folder, select the "GloMSMap_3.05_9.irx" file, and press the "Open" button.
  4. Select the "C:\Program Files\MicroSurvey\MSCAD2014\GloMSMap_3.05_9.irx" file from the list, and press the "Load" button.
  5. Select MsTools > Global Mapper from the menus, or type GLOBALMAPPER at the command line to start the command. The Global Mapper Image Manager dialog will appear.

Problem: The new GLOBALMAPPER command (MsTools > Global Mapper), after loaded into the program as described above, can cause the program to stop responding or to terminate unexpectedly.

Workaround: Global Mappers is a beta feature and will be officially released in service pack 1. Unexpected results or crashes may occur so please be sure to save all your work before using this command and carefully review all imported data. Please report any problems to MicroSurvey using the Submit Bug Report command found in the Help Menu.
