Problems Registering MSCAD 2004

MSCAD 2004 licenses sometimes get mixed up during the installation or reinstallation process. Here are some things to check on:

  1. Ensure that the password is entered correctly.‚  It is very easy to mix up "ones," lower case "ells" and capital "eyes" so watch carefully.‚  There will be no zeroes.
  2. Ensure that the‚ Product Key has been entered correctly.‚  This is the number that was on a yellow sticker on the MSCAD 2004 CD case.
  3. Ensure that the program has not been reinstalled more than three times. You‚ may need to phone MicroSurvey for assistance if this happens.

If your copy of MSCAD 2004‚ says it is in Demo mode but it does not give you‚ any way of entering in a password to register the program when you‚ run it,‚ you can wipe out any old settings so that the program will prompt‚ you for a Product Key and Password again by following the steps below.‚  This will wipe out all records of your license on your machine.‚ Be very careful not to modify your registry in any other way than described below, as this can seriously damage your operating system or other programs.

  1. Exit from‚ MSCAD 2004 if it is open
  2. Pick on Start
  3. Pick on Run
  4. Type‚ REGEDIT into the dialog and press OK
  5. Open the‚ key called HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  6. Open the‚ key called SOFTWARE
  7. Find the‚ key called MSCAD2004.EXE
  8. Right click on it and delete that key
  9. Close the Registry Editor.
  10. Run MSCAD 2004 again and follow the prompts
Choose files or drag and drop files
