Exception Reason Error in Cyclone Startup

Cyclone Errors with Windows 10 Updates

You may receive the following error(s) when Windows 10 does an update

"Exception Reason

Error in Cyclone Start up

The database server is not available. The server may be not running, or the point of configuration between the client and server may not match

Please run "RegCyclone.bat" from the Cyclone Directory. Failure in Startup Procedure"

We recommend a complete uninstall/reinstall of Cyclone. Potential causes for this is Windows blocking Cyclone from either running on ports or is blocking our startup files from running. See below for uninstall/reinstall procedure:

Open the windows firewall in the Control Panel go to the Advanced Setting:

Add an inbound and outbound rule for Cyclone.exe and PTserv32.exe or PTServ64.exe:

And add a rule for Ports 27000-2010, 19700-19701, and port 8080:

If the Windows Firewall is turned on, please turn it off if possible.

If you have the CLM license services (if not skip this step): Then go to the Control Panel and Select Administrative tools/Services and stop the two Flexnet Services.

The go to the Control Panel and select Programs and Features
Remove the Leica CLM programs first, then FlexNet Server next, and then uninstall two FlexNet Service last

Reboot your system.

Uninstall Cyclone using the Cyclone Setup File. This file is the installer that you downloaded when you installed the program.

Use the remove option, this is the cleanest way to uninstall cyclone.

Make sure that all of your hidden files are visible (Organize/Folder and Search Options/View/Show hidden files and folders Move any files that you may need from the Cyclone folder to the desktop.

Delete the following files (Note: you may not have all the files depending on which version of Cyclone you have):

C:Program Files\Leica Geosystems\Cyclone
C:Program Files\Leica Geosystems\pcE runtime
C:Program Files\Common Files\Leica Geosystems
C:Program Files (x86)\Leica Geosystems\Cyclone
C:Program Files (x86)\Leica Geosystems\CLM-Admin
C:Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Leica Geosystems
C:ProgramData\Leica Geosystems
C:ProgramData\FLEXnet (Delete the LGS files in the FlexNet folder

Then perform a Fresh Install
